AGM sees new Chairman and vice |
|
|
Druidale Motor Club's AGM took place on Monday 3rd March led by Chairman Carine "Kex" Walker. The Chairman read his report, reporting a good year for the club with four successful road rallies being run and one stage rally. The big disappointment for the club during 2007 was the unfortunate cancellation of it's flagship event the Duke Stages. The event was moved from it's original date in September due to Foot and Mouth precautions being put in place after an outbreak in the UK, although the Duke was the only event to be effected throughout the whole of the UK. The event swapped places in the calendar with the traditional December date for the Jurby Stages, but unfortunately as entries closed the minimum figure had not been reached or that of the significant figure the organisers were prepared to run the event for. The final result being a cancellation. As a result of the recent issues the club has suffered in running a primarily forest based event, the club is currently considering it's options for the Duke Stages in 2008. The Chairman also announced on the evening that after three years at the helm he would be stepping down and wished the his predecessor all the best for their reign. Treasurer Caroline Caley reported that the club had made a small profit during the year and that the clubs funds were in good health. Following the AGM the Druidale Motor Club Committee held a meeting at which a new Chairman and vice were appointed. The new Chairman is one of the islands leading co-drivers of recent times Rob Fagg. Rob has for the past 5 years been competing in various championship throughout the UK. In 2006 he was the British Super 1600 Champion which included contesting Wales Rally GB, the final round of the World Rally Championship. He also made a big step up in late 2005 and continued in 2006 competing in the Chinese Rally Championship alongside former British and World Champion, and fellow Manxman Martin Rowe. Rob certainly has a lot of experience within the sport of of events at all levels and it is hoped that he will be able to use that to bring the good fro them to the local scene. Acting as Vice Chairman is a newcomer to the Druidale committee, Kris Killip. After only joining in late 2007 Kris has been thrust in at the deep end. As one of the younger members of the committee Kris arrives with fresh new ideas which are already having an effect on the running of future events. There is no change in the other key positions with Jane Leece continuing as Secretary, Caroline Caley as Treasurer and Graham Collister as Competition Secretary. The club goes into 2008 with new ideas which they hope will be well received by it's members. The club will again run four road rallies along with two stage rallies.
